Manhunter Discussion

It’s Monday, so here is something strange with a few good rainy scenes as a bonus.

Before The Silence of the Lambs (1991), based on Thomas Harris’ later novel, there was Manhunter (1986), a less successful film adaptation of his earlier work, Red Dragon (1981).

If you’re a fan of The Silence of the Lambs, it’s worth checking this one out. It’s a compelling story and a prime example of a weird ’80s movie. It has a strange tone, an unusual score, and is rife with B performances.

Despite its flaws and several unintended chuckles, Manhunter delivers good suspense and an intriguing portrayal of Hannibal Lecter by Brian Cox. Like The Silence of the Lambs, it is a homicide investigation movie.
